Scratch and Claw (objective)

by Alison McKenzie

Some days it’s a battle
Just to be nice
To live in skin
Without anyone getting underneath

Where is this rage headed?
Wracking this worn out piece of skull
Trying to get to the root
Shoveling through the garbage
But never reaching the bottom
Of the stench

Sensations loathed
No escape
Skin crawls
Fingernails full of mud
Not able to breathe

Some days the battle doesn’t end
And there is no sleep

Mmmm "scratch and claw" in such muddy environs will surely bring spring blossoms, it seems to me. That's where they come from! (sounds like compost.)

A mud bath can be cleansing sometimes... MFS
