Better Off Alone

by Olivia Weinkein

pushing into circles
the corners we create
& i wish i was happy i mean
truly & i wish you were satisfied
with the opening and closing of
fingertips

burning into flesh into wounds
and oh what about the mistakes
we make & i love you full of
sadness & i always knew you
weren't that strong, i just never
worried or minded or wondered
if you'd ever not be so weak

& if its the purity of snow you
wanted then so be it and if its
the dirty taste of remembering
i can give that to you also

but please don't let me fall
asleep here i can't wake up
again not knowing where i am
& if its my soul you want you
can have it i'm better off alone

i've always been
better off alone.

This has an unusual rhythm but is just the same very fluid and tender...enjoyed reading it very much!

Great rhythm... Simply beautiful in a somewhat complex kinda way. ;o)

the dirty taste of remembering. wow that's a fantastic little punch in the torso. this poem is biting, but not in a bitter teenage way...in a smart poetic way. strong, classic point here. well done olivia!
