Interplanetary Navigation

by Kathleen Wilson

two
doves

I know
she will
catch them

in her interplanetary skirt
to what galactic song

Author's Note: Published in "Star*Line", Journal of the Science Fiction Poetry Association, May, June, 2009. Inspired by the Joseph Cornell exhibit in San Francisco last month. (This one is after Cornell's collage box "Interplanetary Naviigation, 1962") Joseph Cornell, American artist, has been a big influence on my art.)

I've never seen Cornell's Interplanetary Navigation, but I feel as if I have now. Such beauty in your succinct few words. I love navigating through this brief, yet huge, galaxy.

i wish i could manipulate inspiration as well as you. this poem, as simple as it seems could represent the world on its back. two doves...a pretty image. wide open in space...conquering whatever. mightyfine.
