Requiem for Fred

by Maria Francesca

We're here to say goodbye to Fred -
we all are kinda sad he's dead
and surely will we miss his smiles,
as sweet as any crocodile's.

His mom could not be here today,
but sent a glad communique
from her tiny cloister at
the nursing home across the tracks.

There aren't many people here
to see his winsome widow's tears,
and how her lovely bosom wiggles,
how her sobs resemble giggles;

Fred can rest, and rest assured
we'll all console his lady-bird
and keep her warm and satisfied
the way we did before he died.

A couple of his kids are here,
astonishingly full of cheer.
His boss is pleased,
his dog is thrilled,
and though we're sad poor Fred was killed,

we'll say goodbye and wish him well
and pray he's found his place in Hell.
