Smoke

by Oliver Drewman

Hear the burning crackle of the fire
Inhale the smoke of pure desire
The heat of lust consumes the life
Addiction comes like any vice
With a price

Speed on towards death
In every token, broken breath
The foolish laugh, of youthful scorn
To every warning of the danger, peril, threat
Not conceived yet

That burning desire
To hurl oneself into the fire
Just to feel it burn
And comprehend too late
The end of fate

Yeah, but they taste awfully good. Nice imagery and a good left/right hook approach. Well done, to that end.
