Induction into Club 50 January 18th, 2008

by Thomas K. Hunt

Fishermen fly cause the catch makes them high
You’ll be just as high tonight
For tonight you’ll be easy
Yes, down right sleazy
You’ll go down without a fight
I woke up thinking about it
Our Club finally let you in
Fifty years just flew by
They’ll never be back again
It’s been a week of anticipation
Probably longer for you
I know I started thinking about it
Just one year before I was due
Friends and family will join you
From a distance and in your face
All with you to celebrate
In your heart and in your space
Stories told are now getting old
But the laughter does endure
Trickery with one fifty one
Just to cry and say, no more
Carly and me in a bed full of pee
Still makes my heart race
Nothing better than to see my girl
I knock wood when she licks my face
But today is all about one man
Imitations will be seen
Another Mike on the inside
Traces of Gray all in between
Laughter will sound from that cold hallowed ground
The place where I wish I could be
I’ll be thinking of you and the whole dam crew
Have a long distant call round on me
You’ve had a great run
You know you’re not done
A million miles lay off that shore
More years in the sun
More years to have fun
May there be at least fifty more
Here’s to Mike, can the last?
He’s proved it for the last fifty years
Here’s to Mike he’s a horses ass
Seen through the eyes of all his peers

I don't know who Mike is but this was an absolute joy to read, especially being 53!!! I like your style Thomas K.!
