I Smelled Lavender When I Expired by Wendy Sparling
I smelled LAVENDER--when I expired--
The FRagrance in the Sunroom
Was like the Fragrance in the Garden--
Apart the Onslaught of Winter --
The Cries surround--had dried to salt--
And Exhales were quickly stifled
For that last Moment--when our Savior
Approached my bed --in the Sunroom--
I forsook my Treasures --Hand delivered
What relics I found to be
Deliverable--and at that Moment
I inhaled the Lavender--
With Aramaic--questionable hued Varieties--
Between the aura--and my shell--
And then the Garden lights shorted--and then
I could not BE to SEE

Posted by George Hoerner on 01/18/08 at 02:32 PM Very nice Wendy. This reminds me of something I wrote a couple of years ago and this begs me to do a rewrite. I like this! Thanks!!! |
Posted by JD Clay on 02/06/09 at 11:17 PM Emily has nothing on you, Wendy. In fact this is much more pleasing to the senses. I really like the last line too. Though the scent still lingers on. |
