big bang by Mary Frances Spenceropposites attracting
positron seeks
electron
cosmos
hungry and magnetic
spin galaxy love
radiant star spiders
ravenously
devouring each other
in fiery webs
hanging in sparkling shreds
particles
from the edges
magnetic black holes
swirling deadly
mysterious
galaxies
against tangible desire
wonder
so antimatter
crashes
collides
with flashing speed
into
matter
tremendous forces
unleash
the fiery
annihilation
of both
the residual
universe
waiting for it
to happen
again

Posted by George Hoerner on 01/18/08 at 02:26 PM I love the "positron seeks electron". That led me through the rest of the poem. I must do some research. In a freschman physics class I asked the professor if, since there is antimatter, was such a thing as antigravity? Another student, who was a national science scholarship winner interrupted and said "that was stupid". To which the professor said that he didn't think so since that summer experiments were going to be done at CalTech to try to answer that question. I have never found out the answer to my question. Nice inspiring write! |
