The Lie

by Kenneth Lau

do you
tickle yourself
downthere?

pupils of
perfection search my face
five teeth poking out of an
unencumbered
smile--

silence
rolls off my tongue, and
her lips spread wider--she
knows she has put her
finger on something,
something I cannot

hold back--those
eyes,
menacing brown dilations, find
solidarity in my own--

no
escapes into the air
with a click of my tongue,
but her eyes swivel away, swiftly
severing the inquisition--

she knows all to well
the world of lies, and the senses
they command--I am thankful
for a truth gleaned

Truth is I understand the question and answer and the answer. I can’t find fault with any stanzas and I love the taboo subject. Very good, indeed!
