finns vines by Steven Kenworthyi cant make you sleep but i can barely
welcome the new boy to the batallion
i personally welcome you to
how you used to be so free & then you stepped
in.
& when you speak and sing i know what it's like.
i sometimes dish it out too & imagine the chariots
space cadet i'm out of reach or have the fallen fell
so hard
and can you hear me?
the helmet is thick& dense air is blocking
half of my decisions or two.
there's just a slight difference between us.
& if you've never seen cerebral edema like this,
if you had one wish,
would you sell it away to the angel who brought you
this far.
like growing forever and dying young because
something that should have
never stopped.

Posted by Gabriel Ricard on 01/17/08 at 04:26 AM I like this. I like this a lot. It's like a series of clean, quick jabs to the throat. Well done. |
Posted by Megan Guimbellot on 01/17/08 at 05:05 AM i must say i particularly liked the authors note :) i dig this for all its hesitant-cy and awkwardness especially the beginning ;] |
Posted by Elizabeth Seago on 01/20/08 at 01:42 AM Wow. +Favorites. This is fantastic. So many great, plaguing riddles in this one. And I agree with Gabriel - clean jabs. I love this bitter stuff you've been writing. There's such a raw intensity. The passion's dripping off the page, love. |
Posted by Frankie Sanchez on 01/21/08 at 11:14 PM sometimes i just want to climb inside your brain, like a tree house, in hopes that i might pull a book of your author's notes from beneath a loose floor board. i imagine chariots pulled by fire ants. |
Posted by A. Paige White on 02/06/08 at 01:53 AM "half of my decisions or two" is a line fit for a shady veils valentine or two. Love it. I heard you very well. I'm a space cadet too. Awesome stuff. We must've banged helmets once or two. |
Posted by Mara Meade on 02/08/08 at 08:18 PM This one made me stop in my tracks, try it on different scenarios... wow. Good writing, good stuff. |
