Don't Touch The Sugar & Talk Is Cheap

by Olivia Weinkein

did you tell them that you slept
in my bed last night and that i can
get bitter around 2am, toss & turn
with nightmares again or that my
needs are fire that cannot be
doused, my sex is a burden
constantly aroused

did you tell them i slapped you
and called you a fool only to
softly caress you and follow through
to the last swift movement that final
thrust

did you tell them i am someone you
can and cannot trust

did they laugh in your face or shake
their head with surprise or did they grow
bored with your words thinking them
lies

did they fake understanding or concern
or shame

did you tell them i left soon after i

came

all you seem to want to do
these days is put it all out there in
the most indiscreet way, say more
than should be, & fill in the blanks

but all i want is someone to touch me
and another stiff drink.

and you my dear, have been replaced.

Love this. The last three lines in particular, but I'm just a bitter woman like that I s'pose. Very nice.

"All I want is someone to touch me, and another stiff drink. And you, my dear, have been replaced." I am feeling this like a baseball bat to the head right now. I am living this. And it's painful and careless and beautiful. And it's hard. But everything's hard these days. Simplicity is a mystery to me. Thank you for writing this, as I completely relate. I've added this to my favorites. :)
