Unordinary

by Harold Millican

Unordinary

I am anything but ordinary but I like it that way
Because it’s not a duplicate of some other thing
It’s original
My own
No thing that can be shown
Or learned or possessed or returned
I’m truly unordinary
Because I need to be true to myself
Not to believe that I am normal enough to concede
I could be anything but an ordinary
If anything
I am extraordinary contrary
A Benedict Arnold
A da Vinci
With a beautiful spirit inside of me
Poke me
Push me
Fight me
Bite me
That only confirms I’m unordinary
Let me be a refugee
Less than mediocrity
A survivor
Bounded by some but mentally free
Maybe I’m naturally programmed to help
And give of myself wholeheartedly
And for this reason and others relentlessly
I am joyously and unselfishly
Me myself unordinary
