Of Cement and Jello

by Jeffrey Parren

A piece of cement is thrown
upon/at a tub of Jello and
the flexible material envelopes
the inflexible with ease
like a healthy ameoba.

A piece of Jello is thrown
upon/at a solid cement block
and the vicarious result
is when steadfast and stubborn
meet agreeable and accepting.

So is it better to be
rigid and stuck to your guts,
or to be easy-going and
molded to your surroundings?
In this society?  Which prevails?

Nice concept for a poem! I love the "healthy ameoba" simile!
