creation

by George Hoerner

it has stopped for now
the steady warring
between falling flakes of white
and persistent vehicles
which push the collection
of white into mounds
that become taller daily

certainly the respite
will not last long
war never does
it will resume
and the vehicles
will again attempt
to clear paths
so humans thinking
their duties important
will again
collect their mail
subsistence shop
or even go to work

but war never ends
it takes deep breaths
maybe lasting even
for decades
then resumes
with greater ferocity
proving to the gods

the folly of creation
