cold hard truth
shimmers
hard edges
baring all
angles

yet
our
brains frozen
in headlines’
glare
gleam visual

this sculpture
a beautiful

nightmare

ice
too fancy
for this
banquet

but we
thirsty
don’t see
the crystal

and cut
our silent tongues
on the edge
of

reason
before
the shatter
