Haha! We have a mouse at our house. I have a live trap for him, but he cleverly avoids it. This is too cute, Kathleen!

dude, you are rockin the haiku. this is excellent. coupled with the artwork, it has the ring of mastership to it. I love the concept of a new year's bowl, first of all. Like it's a family tradition or something, I'm not sure if you made it up as a way of sneaking "new year" creatively into the bowl of fruit scenario, but no matter. And this sense of the unknown fruit and its mysterious taste and the unknown year ahead... brilliant! Good work.

A note to readers too: This is Real Haiku, people! A shining example of the true literary haiku that is so much more than the syllabic game most people think haiku is. Ok, off my soapbox now :) Great poem, again, Kath.

I love the pastel flows from the tail that seem to cradle the unknown (fruit). Of course the haiku itself is superb, as usual. Tastes as wonderful to my eyes as to my tongue.

p.s. I just love how this rat looks, dressed in pastel dreaminess.

Beautiful haiku and artwork :) I like the sense of freedom this evokes, and how it can be carried through the year.
