Little Islands In The Storm
by Steven Craig
Little Islands in the Storm
Moments stolen from love stillborn
Increments of seconds keep her sane
Moments of glory not to feel the same
Awash with the misery of the everyday
They shelter her until they are washed away
They give her the hope to live another day
A moments happiness in such a pitiful way.
A loveless marriage is a stormy sea
An ocean that swallows her destiny
It is always a dark dawn in her life
A place no solace can ever debark
She seeks the wonderful, the kind, the emotional equal
Too often she finds only the dreaded sequel
Too often she repeats the misery of a day
When she choose so poorly to love his way
Her life goes out of balance
Her misery is complete
She hopes that tomorrow will find her
Not where she was so hurt today
She was that emotional wreck on the storm tossed sea
Seeking any shelter from that storm
In landing here, she found her heart
Was waiting for her amid the derbies
Each day, she lands the moment
Casting fate to a long weekend
Getting away to her freedom
Little Islands in the Storm
Then, for a few moments more
Her hell is hidden behind the door
Her life is in tune as her tears start to pour
With him her life is in rhyme once more
