You Don't Know

by Sahar Rahim

This could be love
This could be the forever type of deal
And we just don't know it yet

Do we leave our lives in the hands of fate
Is it our fate to take the steps to make it last
Will this be the hardest thing we ever do
To trust completely and some day say I do

My friends all think I've gone crazy
That I'm weak and letting my heart lead the way
But what is so wrong with being happy
When this year was only expected to bring pain

And maybe he's not Mr. Perfect
But who said that's what I want
Maybe I enjoy the complications
Of giving this man my heart

Because I don't want it to be easy
I want to fight for this every day
Because something you have to fight for
Is worth more in the end to me

If I sit back and let the world hand me
Every little thing that brings me joy
Then that would leave everything ordinary
And I wouldn't cherish things the way I do

So maybe he's nothing like what people expect
And sometimes you don't think he gives me complete respect
We fight and ignore then make up again
We have our silly little pattern

But the good has always out weighed the bad
And he's the one who takes my hand
He's the one who has begun to fill my heart
He's the one who has flooded every inch of my heart

So maybe this is love
The kind that lasts forever
Or maybe it's temporary
And will end up breaking me in the end

But I can't live in the theoretical
I can only take what's been given to me
He gives me happiness
And a kiss that's sweet

So maybe this is love
I'll just have to wait and see

WOW! You always write such wonderful pieces of how a relationship builds on the inside and translate it into words for the rest of us to nod in agreement... You continue to amaze me and I do wish you well! ~N
