Outside Chance

by Richard Fish

Take a sip from the drip that floats above your head,
What you said is now dead forever and gone.
You are wrong and so long as this is withheld,
I'll know well how you fell though you act all along.

I can't stand to hold hands when you lie to my face,
But this place shows me grace though I fall from a height.
You could sleight me and right me back 'round this way,
But all you say is delayed by your ever-long fright.

If Jesus could see us would he laugh at our pain?
It's the same to a brain fraught with distracted song.
I move on and let morning jets fire through me,
But the teeth of the fleet of my patience is gone.
And I'll know well how you fell though you act all along.

Another child will hold file and rank high in my graphs,
Though I laugh you'll see paths that open up on site.
And I might start a fight for all that I believe,
So don't deceive my cool fleet though you know it's all right.
And all you say is delayed by your ever-long fright.
