he sum smahht dog, eh? by Charlie Morgan
the Lopez dog knew a foreign language;
he ran beside Juan, an order of "vamanos!"
and he lapped Spanish right out of the air
and swallowed tildes used in his mananas.
tail wagging, his speciality as was tamales.
i watched him tilt his head at my request:
"come here, boy!"...his silence screamed,
"stoopid Gringo, whatchu sayin, mon?"

| Posted by Quentin S Clingerman on 08/03/10 at 06:19 PM LOL!! Well, I remain a stoopid gringo except for a very few phrases. If I were to move to Mexico I would expect to learn to speak Spanish if I wanted to do well in that culture! If I had a dog he'd have to learn Spanish as well. LOL!! (Not opposed to learning Spanish just getting too old! I have a granddaughter who is spending nine months in Japan as part of her 5 year major in Japanese.) |
