From This Peaceful Shore

by Joe Cramer

To leave the shoreline

And head to deeper water,

I watched, I waited,

My fear abated with the tide.

Sandbars appeared

As the waters receded.

I had never heeded

This call to the shore.

In crystal blue waters I floated,

Blinking in deeper blue skies.

Slap, slap, drip, the waters pulsated

While I serenely floated further out.

I swayed and danced with a current,

A tiny speck i such deep blue ocean.

I am a floater, nothing more,

Floating away from this peaceful shore.

Author's Note: Though I enjoy living so close to the Atlantic... I want to move....
