autumn (to my daughter)

by Bryan Poole

This morning you awoke
no tears from your eyes
a smile on you face
and a giggle in your voice
your hair, not a single strand in place
i pick you up
you lean on me
so i can hold you tight
say good morning, i love you.

Makes me wish I had a daughter (well, I do, she's a cat) :-) But your words are those of love and compassion. Those moments when nothing else exists but communication - silent or otherwise - between two people.
