Such Pretty Brown Eyes

by Joe Cramer

She has such pretty brown eyes

That they always caught my attention,

Holding me close to her heart.

She never knew that I felt as such,

I drank coffee at one of her "tables"

Until three o'clock or so in the morning.

No one ever told me you could get drunk

On drinking so many sweet cups coffee.

It was only three dollars a pot

That was never, ever empty,

So I spent all of the change that I had

Which was all of my money,

Just to sit near her,

And her intoxicating warm brown eyes.

Imagine my complete and total surprise

When she really wasn't interested in me,

Only the "tip" that I couldn't leave.

I had left my dorm room number on my napkin,

To which she did indeed call the next day

Speaking to me in so many colorful metaphors

That I never knew existed.

And to think, I am an English Major.

My "Minor" was in lost lust.
