shapeshifter

by Carissa Dewey

before barefoot
on this brick sidewalk,
before leaving her bed
she wore gold
high heels.

she walks
the sun beating on her
jeans.
her eyes-
she watches carefully her
path, a pace around broken
glass.
the hot brick scorching
her calloused feet.

above her a liquid mass of white
beats by-
she watches as their shape shifts
as dyed wind.
her gold high heels lay opposite
her bed.
