Hunters Prey

by Maria Massarella

I imagine you dropping
a crumb here and bait there
with your eye in a smile
wondering how things will evolve
and which birds will come to
peck the crumb or which fish
will leap to bite the bait

chewed, and swallowed
once i would fall prey
like a butterfly on air
loving each flutter

you silence me, or maybe
it is i who have silenced me

the compass relentless
tickles my fate along this
path and i savour
a morsel here or there

Great metaphors here for love and romance.... tastefully done, as always... aloha to you and yours from this side of paradise.. alisa ;-)
