Normalcy

by Erin Jones

I don’t know where I stand
Tell me so I can comprehend,
I know this can’t be right
But it’s so far from wrong
Why can’t this be simple?
Why can’t we be normal?
There’s always complications,
Always problems, things get in the way,
But that doesn’t explain
This isn’t simple or plain,
I just want some indication
Something to tell me you feel the same way
That you used to, like you told me you do.
Your words entice me
I want to devour your body
In its entirety
But I don’t know if you would stop me.
I want you inside me
For the rest of eternity
(And no, I’m not talking about sex.)
But do you know what I mean?
Now do you see?
I just want you to tell me what’s going on
Let me know so I’m not so confused
I hate not knowing if you’ll push me away,
I hate having to go around
To get what I want
It sucks
I just want a normal boyfriend
That I know actually wants me.
Just a little bit of normalcy.
