The Fairy Tale

by Amanda Bullington

She smiles soft and wide
And her smile etherealizes
Becoming bigger, thinner,
Stronger than her, us,
The universe itself

Its the first time that face
Has worn a smile so wide
So true, so anticipating the
Next move in its life, the
Next step into womanhood

And pre-adolescenthood
All wrapped into one, it's
The smile of the first
Kissy lips coming together
In a young girl's mind's eye

The smile waiting for a hug
Outside a rainy doorway,
The smile that puts florescent
Bulbs to shame, this smile
Radiates, waiting for the

firstdatetogether and
everythingafter
