jewel

by Mary Frances Spencer

too much
to do
and not enough
gems
to flash
around

the obvious
not the
prize
although the hunt
always on
and what is owed
never
found

just the one
small shining
jewel

often lost
in the plunder

diamond love
shine
from radiant depths
blind us
with your

treasure

Author's Note: Are we just too busy to find the precious? MFS
