Watchful Observer by Alisa Jsas I watched and observed, they and them
I became painfully aware of what was missing here, within
me and mine ...
time ticks on while seasons change around and over all again
springtime, summer, fall and more
the holidays arrive,
bustling fervor, shopping madness, crunch of tail lights flash
winter sadness for those without the other one
that special one, waiting there for you
on the other side of the telephone
behind that open door...
I trudge on through and wonder how
to find myself in this lonely realm,
me, who lives for romantic dreams and sensual scenes
living a life of anything but
what's with this twisted reality ...
have I lost my touch or perhaps the nerve
left them in my twenties,
abused them in my thirties
and now, procrastinate far too long and deliberately,
as I watch and quietly observe, life rolling by and living large
far from me,
in this silent house with footsteps light and pen held tight ...
