Smile

by Erin Jones

I handed him my heart with all the love inside.
  He took it and smiled.
He dropped it to the ground and smiled.
He stepped on it and smiled.
As he ground it into the floor
he watched me sink into myself,
      but still,
             he smiled.
Every time he looks at my pain,
as he's crushing my heart beneath his foot,
             he's still smiling.

I've fallen in love with his smile.
             It hurts.
