Predator by Charles M HarrisonSilent eyes watch and wait
hidden in plain sight.
Sleek torpedoes glide above
rows of razor teeth glisten.
Hunters of the deep
seeking hapless prey.
The eyes stare and study,
stalking, planning, waiting.
Grey shadow draws near
closer, just a bit closer.
Unsuspecting, confident,
powerful, the predator.
The strike comes, no warning,
eight legs, grab, squeeze, hold.
There is a struggle, though brief
black eyes stare at the face of death.
One less sleek torpedo glides above
rows of razor teeth glistening.
The predator glows deep red
devouring the hapless shark alive.
The eyes stare and watch cautious,
the mind plots, plans, and schemes.
On eight legs, skin flashing colors,
the Red Octopus slips away.

Posted by Brian Francis on 12/23/07 at 01:57 PM Nice imagery. I felt as though I were peeking over a reef and seeing a beautiful scene. Stark in its reality of predator becoming prey. Makes me think we should all watch our backs. Well done. --bf |
