spice by Maria Francescacumin
is a trip
to Mexico:
summer tacos
at a sunny patio table
basil
is spring in Italy:
Penne ala Beatrice
at a sidewalk cafe
ginger
is the mysterious Orient:
sweet
and spicy
and haunting
and all of them put together
do not begin to equal the flavor
of that look
in your eyes.
