"You Be Shakespeare, I'll Be Seuss"

by Max Phineas

When every thought comes two seconds too late
And the moment has passed
and you've moved on with a smile
Unaware of the blank that I draw,

I am still dwelling
and mentally slapping
Myself for the notion
that I could keep a straight face
While letting those words pass unsaid.

In the time that it takes you
To get out a sentence
Packed with quick wit and laughter
I can barely react
in monosyllable
And a joke
...Ten minutes after.

The title of this drew me in. I immediately related. To being a Seuss to another's Shakespeare. I enjoyed this tremendously as I can wryly relate.
