Wings

by Tony Whitaker

So now our Ashley
large with child
she worries about weight

still smiles

she hates the way
her ankles feel
wondering will ever
they hold appeal

This pales to what
so soon will come
when he looks
into your eyes
and arms open wide
he says

“Ma - Ma”

all at once
feel so light
as he smiles
with tiny eyes
so bright because
the wings of an angel
we see
are the wings of an angel
he sees

I think she will treasure this as her favorite gift, and read it to him someday. What better gift than your gift!

What a wonderful gift for her. What true and beautiful words you put to page. --bf
