The Difference

The Difference

Do you know the difference between hearing and listening?
Or would you rather paint a façade of greatness with a false glistening
There is no promise or progress in never acknowledging a problem
Because you never seem to get to the core of the issues in time to solve them
Tis’ a pity to be so quick-tempered that you can’t listen to both sides
You hear the person and the problem they have
But you choose not to recognize
You choose to be the queen or king; it’s your way or none
And then one day you look around, and every one you’ve counted on is gone
And all because you choose to push them slowly and blindly away
You wonder what you’ve done
To be portrayed as the bad guy
You thought it was easy as pie
Of course, you think you’ve done nothing wrong
But it’s the little things you didn’t do, that screwed it up all along
No one is perfect, but as you strive to be
You may need to learn the difference again between reality and make-believe
Being real is harder than what’s said
And it’s a tragedy that you can’t see
With anyone, it’s never what you do; it’s what you don’t do that hurts
I’m no exception

I would rather be brutally honest
Than to live a crazy lie,
But the pain never goes away, so I just am tough inside
I know the difference between real love and the love forced on to me
Love needs no term, or concept upon it
Because it’s perfect and free
Learn the difference between care and genuine love and then you will see
The big difference it costs to love one unconditionally
