The Underlying Hate by Harold Millican The Underlying Hate
As of now, in every so-called united city, territory, or state
There is still a resilient underlying hate
That cuts us like a knife as a people, tears us apart
And disrupts the flow of nature
And the peace processes we start
How can we say that we are all on the same page?
When our officials and authorities set the stage
To divide us up into each group and class
At this rate, our peace wont last
This underlying hate that we continue to not see
Is what is dividing us really!
We all want freedom
But at this we fail, because discrimination and profiling still prevails.
We mock and outlaw the innocent and different
Because we wish not to understand the uniqueness of each of us
Woman and Man
A great many of us cant live freely
And some still cant be who they want to be
Because of fear for their future in this current society
We still cant look at a person
Without promoting a label or some fable
An err of ridicule to succeed in making the other person feel unstable
Preying on the weak and gentle
Finding their difference, a fault
And berating orientations, lifestyles, aiming ignorant ammo at their precious vault
We often respond like animals to the new and strange
Without collecting our thoughts and making effort to tolerate or embrace change
The movement of freedom is not yet gone, for any minority it still rolls on
The underlying hate we have after years of living
Takes away from anything that we giving
People so far behind they just cant use
The hatred they have for each other equally,
For if I can say that I cry hate towards another man
Then I hate myself, and on nothing I stand
Everything I touch should cease to exist
If I wish hell on another, thats a risk
Because maybe that same hell comes right back to me
And I dont want that to hinder my future see
So you go on hating, go on and soon you will find
That the inequality you keep hanging onto will be left behind
How could we outlaw our own seeds, the same people with the same needs
The same men and the same women
The same food from the same kitchen
The same love that means so much more
The same rich the same poor
The same people living the same life
If segregation has come and gone
Then I guess we dont have a clean slate
Because there is still a virus going around with us
The Underlying hate
