om poem by Maria Francescameditation,
she intoned,
that is the way
to calm your nerves
and slow your blood-
breathe in
the beauty around you
and breathe out
the slimy residue
of tension
and stress.
so I sit
legs crossed painfully
expelling the ancient mantra:
Ohhhmmmm
ohhhmmmm
ohhhmmmm
what if I get fired?
ohhhmmmm
ohhhmmmm
did I pay the light bill?
ohhhmmmm
why does that check engine light keep flashing?
what if I have cancer?
will I never have sex again?
is that water I'm retaining, or fat?
ohhhmmmm
ohhhmmmm
am I insecure or am I truly as foolish as I suspect?
ohhhmmmm
am I a bad parent?
am I a bad person?
ohhhmmmm
ohhhmmmm
ohhhmmmmyGod -
I can't believe this is supposed to be good for me!
ohhhmmmm
ohhhmmmm
oh,
screw this
and please
just give me the high blood pressure meds. 11/27/2007

Posted by Kathleen Wilson on 11/28/07 at 06:34 AM hee hee... good poetry. Okay I will report this to my yoga teacher. I love you, and your intense feeling for life, your sense of humor. I'll tell you--try this, I invited my yoga class to our house while they refinished the yoga floor... we did the class (a smaller group) and we had after yoga martinis! Fun. Good poetry here, with lots of suspense, and lyricism. |
