Black Friday Wise

by A. Paige White

She sighs as she creeps down the hall
to the shower for the soon coming hour
where black friday fiends
a thankful heart devour
and gratitude demeans

I point her to a poem written by a friend
as a wonderful thought to combat the trend
with an early discount to spend, spend, spend!

I pray she remembers as she serves the hoard
with a still grateful heart to gently remind
He watches all attitudes, does our Lord
It's not for a cup of rice to feed your whole family
that compels you to stand in this line
berating those in front of you and me?

Author's Note: So glad Tony wrote his gentle reminder that I could show my daughter before she headed off (slouching in dread) to face the service aspect in the retail nightmare of Black Friday.

Ya, the commercial slap after thanksgiving. Back to the american dream. Ugh. So glad your daughter has you (and Tony) to help remind her...

I think the name Black Friday says it all. Very nicely done.

i love this for the simple fact that it's reminding the spenders of the world, us consumers, that life is about so much more than dollar signs...but instead intense thankfulness and realization that we're here for a much bigger purpose. wow, this was an essential. most excellent paige...

Very well done my friend. Very well said. And He is smiling on your words of wisdom...
