Black Friday Prayer by Tony WhitakerI couldnt help but hear
standing in line today
the young woman behind me
harping having to wait to pay
I wonder if she ever thinks
of the millions waiting each day
in long lines for a bowl of rice
or the bullet taking their squalid life away
If she ever feels so weak
from weeks with nothing to eat
or looking into her dying childs eyes
so full of fear covered with flies
If she ever gets so cold
not feeling her feet
wandering dark city streets
looking for a warm safe haven
just to lay her head to sleep
Thank You for all the joys
in this wonder-filled life
like nice possessions
two grown children
and let's not forget
my friends and my wife
Now guide this old mind
as I turn around in this line
and somehow get to this girl
showing how wonderful she has it
As wants the rest of the world

Posted by Alisa Js on 11/26/07 at 06:19 AM I think the whole 'black friday' mess was one of the cleverest marketing ploys yet! and yes, works to get our minds off the real picture of what's happening here in the US and around the world.. a spiritual starvation of the truth! the real truth! We need to get our minds off all this comfort and material possession hogwash and onto those things which are eternally secure... and will stand the test of time! alisa ;-) |
