Dark Bird In Flight: 1. allure (collab with David Garner) by Kathleen Wilson
I am leaving now
indrawn to swim in your sky
I place my pale face over the dark bird
you have shown me but I cannot hide
it shows through
hovering between my eyes
to lure your flight after me
but I am flightless now
I crumble when I set for take-off
I taste one tear yet I am bloodless
I want to fly after your feathered dance
but I, nailed and column-shoved, cannot
escape my corset of familiars
I lure you to carry me by beak
11/20/2007 Author's Note: italic stanzas are mine followed by his, alternating throughout. More to come. David Garner invited me to collaborate on a poem. We began and have written with such swift intensity that we are posting the collab as it develops. The entire poem is inspired by a painting he suggested, and we will reveal that later.

Posted by Michelle Angelini on 11/25/07 at 07:54 PM Birds, in all their forms and flight are simply wonderful. Your collab about birds helps me to fly on thermals, showing me sides of birds I never knew existed.
