The Beauty With the Golden Fine Hair

by Tony Whitaker

She slid in my office
her smile divine
suddenly a tingle
moved up my surprised spine
quaffed her fragrance
swooned in my chair

As I behold the beauty
with the golden fine hair

We dated, our first
was filled with much fun
it started immediately
something told me to run
as I watched and listened
something told me beware

As I behold the beauty
with the golden fine hair

Performed my single’s dance
upon my own stage
by my rules, my wants
my own s’il vous plait
then finally she bolted
ran in despair

As I behold the beauty
with the golden fine hair

Now the days are cold and empty
and I wonder each night
who holds my true love
beneath heaven’s starlight
So I’ll lie here in bed
while my mind reaches there

As I behold the beauty
with the golden fine hair

Author's Note: I found this little jewel I wrote before I married my wife. She had finally come to realize I was a single man for life. Little did I know I was already in love with her. I hate it when that happens. So I wrote this in the pit of despair in 1991.

Exquisite! Tell me, you gave it to her when you wrote it?
