crash and burn by Meghan Helmichwaking kingdom
my life is really just a series of crashes
that plowed through the altitudes
of previous smiles and tinkling laughter.
the burning is irrelevant.
i open my eyes to morning (or night
depending on the day and my level of energy)
and go on pretending that i'm asleep.
the sleep excuses me from rationality.
to be the daughter of nonsense, shake soft
the curls and webs until the words
have sprinkled in random patterns,
i have inherited a soft throne. 11/12/2007 Posted on 11/12/2007 Copyright © 2025 Meghan Helmich
