spider

by Mary Frances Spencer

i
am weaving

that web
iridescent in the light

you almost miss it
but it
is there
beautifully fragile
sheer and transparent

waiting
to catch a dream...

I love the word "iridescent" in this poem especially. It has descent in it--and somehow I have never noticed...yet here... it lets its thread run out... then--I also thought of indecent! hee hee--maybe my striptease on my mind?--but yet that "fragile" beauty waiting... it's sensual...

Spider webs are one of the wonders of nature. Did you know that if woven together, the silk from the webs has more strength than steel? Spiders are amazing creatures. I never kill any - they are my bug catchers. I have my dreamcatcher above my bed, someday it will catch me...uh uh, not going to tell. Love this poem!

This poem is as delicately beautiful as a lacey web kissed with dew glistening in early morning sunshine.

The last two lines are just perfect.
