Small Vertical Circles

by A. Paige White

odd balls

I'm mentally turning cartwheels
in the front yard with my children
to witness such foolishness

I notice as I witness

to an official activity

by scrawling my signature

in small vertical circles
some with a slant
some with a stem
one topped with a jot
one entitled to tittle

I'm practicing cartwheels
while it appears I'm looking
at the line where I sign
I'm watching my wrists,
would they sprain at the strain?

the odds of an oddball
rolling out in small vertical circles
as likely as
some with a slant
some can't be stemmed
some with a jolt
all with a wiggle

to a chorus of giggles
