breaking

by Mary Frances Spencer

those patterns
are beginning
to crack and break
like old china
dropped on the
floor
for maximum effect
shattering what
i thought was
safely stacked away
so now i
am like a Greek
waiter
crashing
the plate
against the wall
sipping out of
crystal
that rests precariously
on the
edge
i'd love
another
olive...

Author's Note: This describes how I feel as I venture forward on my path. It feels good to break out! MFS

WELCOME TO PATHETIC Maryfrances. I love the buildup to the end. Yes, I'd love another olive, too. Breaking out is good - powerful - and it helps me out of the ruts I tend to hide myself in.

Quite an analogy for "moving forward" or out of one's comfort zone.
