I am More... by Harold Millican
I am not a cause, not a victim, not a gift horse, or a beggar
I am more than what eyes can see
I am reason, I am thought, and I am not just what you make of me
I am capability, I am progression
I am beauty, tone, and grace
I am love, unselective, unbiased, and free
I am courage that does not choose
And color that never fades
I am life, I am happiness
I am those words that you think about, but rarely say
I am the heart that longs for confirmation
The soul that is forgotten
I am the feeling, intuition
The purpose
The shooting star in the sky
Because I am human
This is why
I smile, I laugh, and I take no second glances
And experience, diving in
Without a care
Showing my face in the crowd...being there
For I inspire, I renew, I champion and pursue
I am More
More than just a word on the page
Infinitely more than a song one can sing
The sweat on your brow
The hair on your head
I am a winner
A fighter who has his victory
I am today and I am the promise
I am more because I believe
I seek and do
I think and construct
But I HURT, oh I cry, and I worry too
I hurt for the broken, for the seemingly unfit
For the imperfection, the conformist, the less than
I ache for respect
And am bruised with neglect
Because my beauty is not recognized
I am the fatherless son
The motherless daughter
I am the surviving thief
The one youd give up on, before taking one breath
I am the one you cant figure out
The situation that constantly clouds you with doubt
I am the closed door discussion, HA!
The challenge
But I am
I aim and I feel that I am more
MORE I Tell You
Than what you think I am
My love is real
My hands are tender
My heart is running over
My head is quick and deep in thought
My feet are marching under
I feel the tinge of hate and prejudice
The politics are dirty and dingy
And yet I never fail to know that MORE is in me
I win small victories
The large ones are not yet here
But Ill keep on fighting
For my love is shining
My fear is decreased, because I am COMPLETE
And I AM MORE.
