Thick an' Thin by Tota LongmireWhy do we do this?
Sit in silence an' listen
To each other's unhappiness?
Thick and thin, you an' me,
Isn't this the thick? Soon to be
The thin? We gotta make the
Thick last us, and yet, we sit, an'
Each listens to the other's sadness
An' tears come to my eyes an' I
Imagine that I hear them in the changes
Of your breathin'. All I can do is talk,
Pointless talk of nothin' and I wish, I
Wish I knew the words that would bind
Us together and keep us through the thin.
Why can't I find the words? Abracadabra?
No, that's not it, Sesame? No, I wish I knew,
But I don't. The silence gets so loud it hurts
An' I want to make it go away, but I never
Know what to say. So I sit, with tears in
My eyes and let the silence hurt more an' more. 11/03/2007 Posted on 11/03/2007 Copyright © 2026 Tota Longmire
