Looking to my check-mate

by Vere Mantratriad

we set our adjournment
date – unknown, too long
since we last fought for
our own centre control
even still you hold me in
your bind and I have
moved antipositional with
every twitch and shake
I have never found myself
opposed to your
capture whether playing
pawn or queen, both
I seem to have mastered
I may interpose
from time to time
and mostly I have
made quiet moves but
I find my guard at unrest
not ready yet to resign
I move forward but I
wish Caissa with you
more than me as I
look now to your side

your move

Author's Note: Why yes, that is the cheesiest title I've ever written. Thank-you for noticing.

I was totally geeking out over the chess terms. Which, by the way, I do not play because I'm awful at it.
I am well aware that I'm a complete dork.

I have a standing rule that I will always play chess with a man - once. The first time they don't expect you to win. The second they'll kick your ass. ;)
