one lizard among many

by Charlie Morgan

frigid waters perk my nerves when
i slice thru it like a wet kite;

i leave the world suspended in warmth
knowing only what is to be felt-dry.

exploding, i'm a middle-aged nova;
spreading watery gases willy-nilly.

diving in, only a flash is seen by that lizard
his neck a salty pretzel of confusion
as his world is shattered
between my yapping dog
and my dog's master.

This is a good one. Made me laugh and reflect sadly on my ever increasing age. One question though: why the sudden turn into 3rd person in the end?
