Miss(ed)

by Jersey D Gibson

You left me with a smile on your face,
waving your hand as I drove away.
But memory fades as time passes by,
it's so dim now...

Long ago I heard your voice,
the phone cracked as I strained to hear.
Listen so hard for your comfort,
and I'm addicted...

And when your alone on those cold winter nights,
when your bed is empty as your heart.
When you see others holding hands,
and yours is missing its companion.

How long has it been, you're afraid to ask,
it's time borrowed, you won't get back.
Gone longer than you've been together,
but it's worth it...

When the wind whispers, caressing your cheek,
you turn 'cause you thought someone called your name.
When you feel the breeze blowing through your hair,
I sent my love to you...

It's been so long, how can you endure,
so much it seems like you would have shattered.
Hold your hands together for that remembered warmth,
and know that I do the same.

I'm so far away, like another world,
yet I look up, the stars are the same.
I send to heaven all of my prays,
to you...

Though I'm gone, I am not missed,
can you still smell my scent like a memory?
When you look at a photo of you and I,
do tears come to your eyes...?

tender and sweet with timeless longing... you speak the hearts of so many with your intimate songs
